Opening statements began Tuesday in the rape trial for escaped inmate Antoine Massey.
The first witness called was Diamond White, the woman at the center of the case. White took the stand and immediately told prosecutors she did not remember much of the night in question. She repeatedly stated she has “never said she was raped,” insisted she could not recall key details, and told jurors she had been high on multiple pills, including ecstasy and had not taken her prescribed mental-health medication. Prosecutors opened by telling jurors this case is about a violent attack in November 2024. They pointed to injuries documented by deputies, doorbell camera video from White’s apartment complex, and body-camera footage from officers who interviewed her at the hospital. They said
