The Boston Bruins received an unlikely contribution from rookie defenseman Jonathan Aspirot on Tuesday.
Aspirot scored his first career goal in the club’s matchup with the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena — helping cut the deficit on a night where they were without forward David Pastrnak and still looking for suitable replacements for defensemen Charlie McAvoy and Henri Jokiharju .
Aspirot entered the night as a plus-two in 14 career games, and given his lengthy contributions, would need to clear waivers if the club ever intends on sending him back to AHL-Providence.
Alex Steeves pitched in with a goal of his own later in the second period, though the Red Wings responded and entered the third period up 4-2.
