FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - After an early taste of winter in northeast Indiana, Fort Wayne city leaders announced this year’s winter contingency plan, including a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week shelter for the first time.

The city has partnered with local nonprofits for years to offer resources that help people get through the winter months. This year, they say it’s bigger than ever.

The plan includes warming stations, as well as additional overnight shelter for single women and families. Amanda Fall, Manager of Homeless Services, says the plan would not have been possible without their partners.
