A former Ohkay Owingeh police officer has been arrested a second time in connection with allegations he obstructed an undercover federal drug investigation in 2020 while working for the tribal police department.

Justin Aguino, 30, was arrested Nov. 26 on a federal warrant after prosecutors alleged he had fallen out of contact with both his probation officer and his defense attorney for more than a year.

Aguino faces pending criminal counts of obstruction of justice and making false statements, according to a federal grand jury indictment filed in 2023. Federal agents have alleged Aguino leaked information about an undercover officer working a federal drug investigation that took place in 2019 and 2020 while Aguino was working as a police officer for the pueblo.
