ATLANTA — A federal appeals court has vacated a 2023 ruling that partially struck down Georgia's ban on giving people food and water in voting lines.
The long back-and-forth over the ban, which was included in Georgia's S.B. 202 voting law passed in 2021 in the aftermath of the outcry about President Donald Trump's loss in the 2020 election, will now continue with the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling issued Monday.
"The Eleventh Circuit’s ruling reinforces a simple truth: Georgia has the right and the responsibility to shield voters from influence and interference at the polls,” Georgia Sec. of State Brad Raffensperger said in a statement. “Despite what Stacey Abrams and her cronies say, our laws safeguard every Georgian’s right to free, fair, and fast elections.”
