The UK faces a barrage of snow lasting 21 hours - with the exact time the first flurries start to fall announced. The UK faces a downturn in conditions in and around December 15, according to WX Charts.

The maps and charts, which use Met Desk data, are based on the advanced modelling system. The GFS model shows blotches of white, grey and purple - signifying snow - over swathes of the country, for 21 hours from December 15.

Flurries will hit Northern Ireland, Wales and parts of northern England first, at around 9am. The heaviest snowfall is likely north of the border, in the Scottish Highlands, while further south, a dusting is expected from the Midlands northwards.
