Joe Louis Southern Kitchen is expanding to downtown Detroit.

This will be the third location for the restaurant named after the famed boxer. It's known for Southern-style comfort food and all-day breakfast.

Joe Louis Southern Kitchen is planning to open next spring at 1528 Woodward Ave., a Bedrock property, and a few minutes walk to Comerica Park and Ford Field. According to a news release, the restaurant opening is set for April 3, 2026, which is also the Detroit Tigers’ Opening Day.

Joe Louis Barrow II, Joe Louis’ son, and local restaurateur Johnny Cannon are behind and leading the restaurant and offering the same menu items as the other locations.
