Luca Neal has been making pizza for nearly his entire life.
“Since I was 5 years old,” said Neal, a senior football standout at Avonworth.
But we’re not talking about some run-of-the-mill pie you might find in the grocery store freezer aisle.
Neal’s father owns Doughboy’s, a popular pizzeria that sits just off the McKees Rocks Bridge. Ryan Neal and co-owner Chuck Landa opened the business in 2004, and Luca, despite a busy schedule, helps out as much as he can.
“He does whatever needs to be done,” said Ryan, whose family lives in Ohio Township, just a stone’s throw away from Avonworth’s Lenzner Field. “He does a lot of the behind the scenes stuff like making dough and doing prep work. He does receipts, balances drawers, I take him to the bank. I try to get him well rounded in everything
