Since the GMC Hummer EV was first unveiled, one of the biggest talking points was the CrabWalk feature. It turns the wheels diagonally and lets you drive somewhat sideways at low speeds. Even after several commercials showcasing this feature, it's safe to say it would be rare to see anyone using this option in real life.
The intent is to help maneuver better in tight spaces while off-roading or in parking lots. In commercials the Hummer EV truck, SUV and Sierra Denali EV can be seen dashing through the snow leaving diagonal tire tracks behind. In another commercial, NBA legend LeBron James drives the vehicle with hordes of crabs walking alongside. Some commercials aim to show the feature looking useful and some focus more heavily on the marketing of it.
