NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A $1 million initiative aimed at helping foster children in Tennessee transition out of government care and into adulthood was revealed on Wednesday.
The Reconstruct Thriving Youth Challenge was launched to address the over 800 young people in Tennessee who “age out” of foster care. Up to 80% of them often face homelessness, addiction, incarceration, or trafficking within just three years, according to the initiative.
Multiple agencies are collaborating to provide $1 million in aid to address aged-out foster children in Tennessee. These agencies include The Governor’s Faith-Based and Community Initiative, Every Child TN, Access Ventures, and Essential Innovation Belmont Innovation Labs.
