Elementary and middle schools in a north suburb have been closed for days to due what the school is calling a "cyber security incident," with before and after-school activities also canceled as officials worked to investigate.
The closures come after school was already closed last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The incident, impacting Zion Elementary School District 6, began Nov. 30 according to a post on the district's website, with officials saying electronic files and servers across the district "may have been compromised."
"We are working diligently to determine the credibility and full extent of this potential breach," the post went on to say.
