The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued winter weather advisories across much of western New York as a strong cold front moves through, bringing lake effect snow, gusty winds, and hazardous travel conditions.
Eastern Lake Ontario Region (Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis Counties)
Advisory: 9 PM Wed, Dec. 3 to 4 PM Thu, Dec. 4
Snow Accumulation: 3–5 inches, with localized 5–8 inches possible on the northwest Tug Hill Plateau
Winds: Gusts up to 35 mph causing blowing and drifting snow
Impact: Travel difficult, especially during Thursday morning commute
Western Southern Tier (Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Southern Erie Counties)
Advisory: Midnight Thu, Dec. 4 to 7 PM Thu, Dec. 4
Snow Accumulation: 2–5 inches, heaviest on Boston Hills and Chautauqua Ridge
Winds: Gust
