A Hazleton man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred earlier that morning in Freeland Borough.

According to court records, Edgar Michael Polanco, 24, was charged with conspiracy to commit criminal homicide and arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Daniel O’Donnell. Bail was denied, and he remains in custody at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

Our newsgathering partners at 28/22 News reported that police believe Polanco had one of the suspected shooters sitting in his vehicle before the incident and participated as a “look out” during the shooting that fatally wounded 18-year-old Rafiel Sanz and left a 15-year-old injured.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 12 in Luzerne County Central Court, as stated in court records
