WASHINGTON — West Virginia led a coalition of states in an amicus brief urging the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to stay an injunction that effectively halted President Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard.
The brief was filed in the wake of an attack last week in Washington, D.C., that resulted in the death of a West Virginia National Guard member and left another critically wounded.
The brief argues that the district court’s injunction is dangerous, stating it “usurps presidential power and endangers D.C. citizens and the government.”
