Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse has a pretty good feeling who its competition is as it fights to sign blue-chip wide receiver Calvin Russell during the early signing period.
After postponing his signing on Wednesday, Russell appeared to flash the “U” symbol that’s universally recognized as a hand gesture for Miami Hurricanes fandom.
Miami and Michigan were among Syracuse’s primary competition leading up to Russell’s initial commitment to Syracuse back in July, and the Hurricanes have continued to recruit him.
Russell stunned Orange fans Wednesday when he said he would not be signing with SU on the first of the three-day early signing period.
