Van Buren, N.Y. — Four separate crashes involving 11 vehicles shut down part of Route 690 South on Wednesday morning in Van Buren, backing up traffic for miles as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
Around 7:45 a.m., a single-vehicle crashed in slowed traffic on the highway near the Van Buren Road and Route 159 exit, according to Trooper Jennifer Jiron, a spokesperson for State Police. That crash was investigated by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, she said.
Shortly after that crash, a 2009 Hyundai driven by Hayley D. Diane, 17, of Syracuse hit a 2012 Volkswagen driven by Alexandria M. Boyce, 30, of Baldwinsville, Jiron said. Diane suffered a minor injury and was taken to Upstate University Hospital. She was also ticketed for following too closely, she said.
