WESTLAKE, La. (KPLC) - After more than a decade of worshiping in temporary spaces, St. John the Divine Orthodox Christian Church has found a place to call home.
The church’s building burned down in 2014. Now, 11 years later, church members are stepping into a space that’s theirs.
“When she walked in here and saw everything set up, she could only get out, ‘This is home. I’m home.’ That’s the thing — it feels like home,” Subdeacon Jeff Nichols said.
The church spent years moving from one temporary location to another, most recently a small storefront on Kirkman Street.
Their new permanent home, the former Legacy Event Center in Westlake, wasn’t found by a committee or a formal search.
