ANACORTES, Wash. — Students returning from Thanksgiving break learned that beloved Spanish teacher and coach Edmundo Corrales died in a crash while driving to work Monday morning .

The 36-year-old was killed when an oncoming car crossed the center line on U.S. Highway 20. The other driver survived. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the crash.

Corrales spent seven years teaching at Anacortes High School, where administrators say his impact on students and staff was immeasurable.

"Our students and our staff are struggling," said school spokesperson Nicole Tesch. "The joy he exuded every time he walked down the hall was just immeasurable."
