WACO, Texas — The Waco Police Department is welcoming in 17 new officers to the department.

The department shared on Wednesday, Dec. 3 that 17 new officers were set to begin training after completing the McLennan Community College Law Enforcement Academy.

"Please give a tremendous congratulations to these men and women," Waco PD said in a post on social media.

The department said the new graduates will now train with Waco PD officers for the next six months, learning "what it truly means to protect, serve and lead with purpose in every call for help."

Waco PD said the department is honored the new officers chose Waco.
