MADISON (WKOW) -- The Salvation Army women's shelter in downtown Madison expected to take in upwards of 100 guests Wednesday night as temperatures were forecast to be in the single digits.

Anyone who identifies as a woman has access to a bed, food, lockers, and other basic needs. The shelter also provides case management, assistance with permanent housing, and additional support services.

"During our cold weather nights, when Dane County issues a notification that it is below 20 degrees, we are able to utilize all of our services, and folks in our community can come in. So we expect our numbers to be very high," said Assistant Director Rosendo Ortiz.

Recently, Ortiz added, the shelter has housed up to 130 guests, with a capacity of 140.
