PARMA, Ohio — After news surfaced earlier this week that the Acme Fresh Market store in Parma was closing due to its financial performance, 3News has now learned that Giant Eagle is working to help some of the impacted employees.

“Giant Eagle is working with the Local 880 union and with Acme to hire some of the displaced workers from the closing,” according to Joe Mosbrook, who is a spokesperson for Giant Eagle. “Local 880 represents workers at both chains. Giant Eagle held internal hiring events for the past two days at the closed Acme store in Parma.”

Mosbrook added, however, that it’s currently unclear how many employees from the Acme store in Parma will land a job with Giant Eagle.
