The A12 is closed in both directions by police following a serious crash.

The East of England Ambulance Service alerted Suffolk police to the crash at 1.55pm on Thursday on the Saxmundham and Kelsale stretch of the trunk road.

Officers arrived on scene to find the two-vehicle collision and a spokeswoman for Suffolk police confirmed that Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service are on scene.

Traffic sensors are reporting heavy delays in the area, and it is unknown when the road may reopen.

Suffolk Highways has been made aware.

The fire service and Suffolk Highways have been contacted for a comment.
