IONIA, Mich. — Three schools in the Ionia Public Schools District are closed Thursday following the death of an educator on one of the school's campuses Wednesday night, the Ionia Department of Public Safety (IDPS) said.
IDPS shared a letter sent home to parents early Thursday morning saying that the educator was discovered dead late the night before.
The school district announced that the Ionia High School, Welch High School and Bulldog Beginnings Preschool are closed Thursday, Dec. 4. All other schools in the district will remain open.
The district said it will provide grief counselors on Friday for students and staff.
