A shoplifter who owed more than £1,300 in Metro fines was caught stealing designer perfume from a city centre department store. Sarah White was arrested after helping herself to a bottle of Paco Rabanne fragrance from John Lewis, in Newcastle, and was summonsed to appear in court earlier this month.

But the 34-year-old failed to show and a warrant was issued for her arrested. She was detained 24 hours later and appeared in the dock in custody on Thursday, where she pleaded guilty to shop theft.
