Dec. 6, the feast day of St. Nicholas of Myra, is a tradition that dates back to the third century.
Children would place their shoes beside the door, hoping that St. Nicholas would pile coins inside as a reward for their “good behavior.”
Zoar will host its German holiday traditions from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Christmas in Zoar includes music, horse-drawn wagon rides and vendors throughout the town.
The Christmas concert starts at 4 p.m. Saturday and the candlelit church service at 5 p.m. The tree lighting will brighten the festivities at 6
