ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to flood Atlanta for the FIFA World Cup 2026 — but not all of them will stay in traditional hotels.
Airbnb said local hosts are expected to welcome about 6,000 guests, who will contribute an estimated $70 million to Atlanta’s economy.
The short-term home rental company is currently FIFA’s Official Alternative Accommodations and Experiences Booking Platform, starting with the FIFA World Cup 2026 and ending with the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027.
Across all 16 host cities for the 2026 world cup, Airbnb expects stays will contribute $3.6 billion to local economies.
