A man faces life in prison after being convicted of shooting his ex-girlfriend nearly a dozen times in front of their five-month-old child. It took a jury just 35 minutes to find Shawn Bolden Jr guilty of malice and felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime in the 2021 death of 29-year-old Deanna Ellison.

According to prosecutors, Ellison decided to end the relationship after Bolden slapped her on Mother's Day 2020 because he had invited her mother over for dinner. Ellison was about three months pregnant at the time.
