WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. — A section of a local highway was shut down for an accident.

On Thursday, traffic on I-39 northbound was backed up for about 4 miles by the Baxter Road exit, for what appeared to be an accident. There was a heavy first responder presence in the area.

Northbound lanes are currently closed near the Baxter Road exit.
