LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The Jefferson County Board of Education is putting a pause on JCPS' plans to close and consolidate schools within the district.
Superintendent Brian Yearwood submitted a proposal in November to close and consolidate some schools as the district faces a $188 million budget shortfall.
The two schools set to close under the proposal are Zachary Taylor Elementary and Liberty High School. Other schools that would be impacted include Waller-Williams Environmental, King Elementary, and Georgia Teenage Parent Program (TAPP).
The proposal has faced pushback from parents and students at community input sessions.
Now, the JCPS Board is putting a pause on the proposal.
