CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man was stabbed in the chest on the light rail in Charlotte and another man has been arrested.

The victim's condition is unknown at this time as is the cause of the stabbing.

The city is still reeling after a 23-year-old woman was stabbed and killed randomly on a light rail three months ago.

This evening's stabbing happened just hours after Charlotte swore in former Raleigh Police Chief Estella Patterson as the new police chief of the Queen City.

Governor Stein this evening saying he's spoken with Chief Patterson about this evening's stabbing and is praying for the full recovery of the victim.

The governor says Chief Patterson is leading a new campaign to increase law enforcement in Charlotte.
