STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — There were five reported vehicle thefts during the week of Nov. 24 through 30, according to NYPD data.
Despite the number, the amount of automobile thefts reported in the borough this year has gone down. Car thefts reported through late November dropped 30% (220 vs. 314) when compared to the same period in 2024, according to the NYPD’s latest CompStat figures.
According to the database, 2021 was the last time car thefts on the borough were this low. The database indicates that five cars were stolen on Staten Island between Nov. 24 and 30 — the most recent week for which statistics are available.
