More than 20 individuals were injured at Heathrow Airport this morning following an alleged assault involving a form of pepper spray. The incident occurred at Terminal 3, causing significant disruption at Europe’s busiest transport hub. The Metropolitan Police reported that they received calls at 08:11hrs regarding multiple assaults in a multi-storey car park. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos, with armed police searching vehicles and trains being halted as passengers reported coughing and eye irritation. A police statement confirmed that a group of men sprayed several individuals with what is believed to be pepper spray before fleeing the scene. One man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in custody. The London Ambulance Service responded promptly, transporting the injured to hospital. Fortunately, their injuries are not considered life-changing or life-threatening. Despite the chaos, Terminal 3 remains open, although traffic in the area is experiencing some disruption. Police have stated that they do not view the incident as terror-related, suggesting it stemmed from an argument among individuals known to each other. Commander Peter Stevens addressed the situation, stating, "At this stage, we believe the incident involved a group of people known to each other, with an argument escalating and resulting in a number of people being injured." He assured the public that officers responded quickly and that there would be an increased police presence at the airport throughout the morning to ensure safety and continue investigations. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting CAD 1803 7 DEC. The situation at Heathrow is gradually returning to normal as police continue their inquiries into the events that unfolded this morning.
