Metrolink's operator has issued a statement following the news that tram drivers will go on strike over the Christmas party season . Around 320 drivers will walk out in the dispute over working patterns and rest breaks, including on New Year's Eve.
Planned industrial action was postponed at the start of December for negotiations, but the union Unite said on Monday (December 8) its driver members had 'overwhelmingly voted to reject the company's proposals for tackling driver fatigue'. As a result, three days of strike action has now been announced by the union.
