CLEVELAND — Cleveland Hopkins officials say an individual was taken into custody Sunday evening after allegedly making "threatening statements about activity at the airport."

According to a statement from the airport, the Cleveland Division of Police was notified by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office following a credible concern involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis.

Cleveland police officers located and intercepted the individual on an escalator to the ticketing level. While the person was not armed at the time, a loaded handgun was later found in their vehicle on-site.

The individual was taken into custody without incident and transported to a hospital for a psychological evaluation.
