LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Rep. Morgan McGarvey, D-Louisville, said he plans to re-introduce the Justice for Breonna Taylor Act.
The bill would end no-knock warrants, similar to the one used by the Louisville Metro Police Department, which entered Taylor’s apartment in March 2020. Taylor was shot and killed by police during that raid.
The bill has been brought up in Congress twice before , but did not make it out of committee.
McGarvey said he is lining up bipartisan support in both the House and Senate, including Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., to get the legislation passed.
“The reality is these no-knock warrants don’t keep people safe, and so many times they’re open for abuse,” said McGarvey. “They’re open for anybody getting hurt. That’s why we have Republicans and Democrats coming together saying
