LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The deadline is approaching for Congress to decide whether to extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies. Kentucky lawmakers are weighing in.
Rep. Morgan McGarvey, D-Louisville, is joining his fellow Democrats in advocating for an extension.
“I’m hearing stories in Louisville from people who are having their health insurance triple and quadruple per month unless the Republicans extend these tax credits,” said McGarvey. “They must do it, and if they don’t do it by the end of the year, then people’s health care costs are going to skyrocket.”
Rep. James Comer, R-Tompkinsville, said that he expects Congress will approve an extension, but only for a year or two while lawmakers work toward a more permanent solution.
