HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) reported that a crash has closed a portion of I-40 in both directions on Tuesday morning.
NCDOT reported the crash near the Tennessee line near Exit 7, Cold Springs Creek Road, around 2:29 a.m. Officials said the road is expected to reopen by 11:30 a.m.
Officials encourage motorists on I-40 to take Exit 53B to I-240 West, Exit 4A to I-26 West for 74 miles to Exit 8A, and follow I-81 South to I-40 in Tennessee.
This is the second crash in this area that has caused a shutdown of I-40 this week.
