PHOENIX — A motorcyclist has died after being trapped beneath a van on a Phoenix highway on Tuesday morning, according to DPS.

At 8:45 a.m., a seven-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle occurred on westbound Loop 202 near 40th Street.

DPS said the motorcycle was trapped beneath the van. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital and later died. A woman in another vehicle was taken to the hospital with injuries.

The westbound lanes of the Loop 202 have reopened at 40th Street after a brief closure due to the crash.

DPS said the 40th Street on-ramp was also closed.
