A 25-year-old mum said that going to hospital was a 'waste of time' just hours before she died from a condition that doctors missed.
Tanya McCartney had symptoms including a high temperature, painful throat, and shortness of breath, and believed that she had caught a cold from her 11-month-old son Marcus. But despite this, her GP advised her to go to hospital. On May 18 2023 Tanya was sent home by staff at Chesterfield Royal Infirmary after attending at the A&E, and given oral antibiotics.
