MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Officer has released Christopher Scholtes' cause of death.
According to the Maricopa Medical Examiner, 38-year-old Scholtes died from carbon monoxide toxicity. Scholtes died on Nov. 5, before he was set to be taken into custody . The Maricopa Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death as suicide.
The Marana father pleaded guilty to the murder of his 2-year-old daughter after leaving her in a hot car in July 2024. He was offered a second plea deal in October after he initially rejected a plea deal in March.
