WASHINGTON — Tony Dokoupil will take over as anchor of “CBS Evening News” in January, marking the latest chapter for a broadcast that has undergone a series of changes in recent years.
CBS News announced Wednesday that the Emmy Award–winning journalist will begin his new role Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
Dokoupil joins the flagship evening newscast from “CBS Mornings,” where he has been a co-host alongside Gayle King and Nate Burleson since 2019. He will become the sixth "Evening News" anchor in a decade, succeeding John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois, who both recently announced they'll be stepping away from the role after less than a year.
