CLEVELAND, Ohio — When chefs Jeremy Umansky and Allie La Valle planned Larder Supply in spring 2024, they had big plans for a culinary shop that would offer previously loved kitchen equipment, cookware, serving ware, books and more. Foodstuffs were expected to include pantry items.
The married chefs and James Beard Award semi-finalists operate Larder Delicatessen & Bakery in a repurposed firehouse on West 29th Street in the Hingetown neighborhood. Larder Supply is in a 500-square-foot space across the street, 1430 W. 29 th Street.
Their plans for a kitchen shop have been stalled by politics. First, they encountered funding roadblocks with the Small Business Administration. Now they’re overwhelmed by Trump administration tariffs.
