NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Six Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food-choice waivers under the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) initiative have been approved.
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced the approvals Wednesday.
With the approval of the waivers, Tennessee will be amending the statutory definition of “food for purchase” under SNAP starting in 2026. Hawai‘i, Missouri, North Dakota, South Carolina and Virginia will be making the changes next year.
