COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred on July 5 in Colorado Springs was ruled justified, according to the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
The shooting occurred early in the morning in downtown Colorado Springs near Pikes Peak and Tejon. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said officers received a call about a man holding a gun in the area around 1:30 a.m.
Upon arriving in the area, the DA’s office said police began canvassing the area, asking people if they had seen the suspect. After initially not finding the suspect, the DA said an officer returned to his vehicle, where a message from the Real Time Crime Center displayed a photo of the suspect armed with what appeared to be a semi-automatic rifle.
