NATO Secretary General Rutte said Europe was Vladimir Putin's "next target" as he called on the alliance to prepare for "the scale of war our grandparents and great-grandparents endure".

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Rutte warned: "We are Russia's next target. We are already in the danger zone.

" Russia has brought war back to Europe. We must be prepared for the scale of war our grandparents and great-grandparents endured."
