MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Wisconsin Department of Corrections placed three staff members on administrative leave amid an internal investigation into the agency’s response to Morgan Geyser’s escape from a group home.
Geyser is known for stabbing a 12-year-old classmate to appease the fictional character Slender Man.
It took nearly 12 hours to notify the public of Geyser’s escape.
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections sent a response to lawmakers from the Legislative Audit Committee after they wanted answers about what happened the night Geyser cut off her GPS bracelet.
The response outlines how the DOC is changing procedures, including immediately notifying local law enforcement when an ankle monitor is tampered with.
