Some Jefferson County Public School evening practices, games and events on Dec. 11 are cancelled due to an upcoming winter weather event.

With the National Weather Service in Louisville forecasting 2 inches or more of snow starting the evening of Dec. 11 and into the morning of Dec. 12, all events scheduled for 7 p.m. or later are cancelled, JCPS spokeswoman Carolyn Callahan announced.

"Recognizing the forecast and the hazardous road conditions that typically accompany snow and ice events, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority," Callahan wrote.

A decision on whether class schedules will be impacted by the upcoming snowfall has not yet been decided.
