FAIRFAX, Va. — Fairfax High School was cleared by police Thursday afternoon, nearly three hours after a bomb threat forced an evacuation in the middle of the school day.
Students, teachers, and staff were forced out of classes and the school grounds as Fairfax City police officers began to swarm the area at around 12:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, parents were told to wait for their children in The Home Depot parking lot, located off Blenheim Boulevard — nearly a mile away from FHS's campus on Lion Run.
By 1:40 p.m., Fairfax County Public Schools reported that the school had been completely evacuated.
"We continue to prioritize student and staff safety while police conduct their investigation," a FCPS spokesperson said, noting that officers had been investigating a bomb threat at FHS.
