NORWALK, Conn. (WFSB) - A domestic dispute turned violent Wednesday night when a Norwalk man shot a dog that bit him, then took off before police could arrive.
Jeffrey Vigil, 52, of Norwalk, now faces charges including criminal possession of a firearm and violating a restraining order after the incident at his home.
Police got the call around 6:55 p.m. Wednesday about a domestic dispute where someone had fired a gun.
When officers arrived, they found a large brown pit bull with a gunshot wound to its shoulder. Police say officers immediately responded, putting pressure on the wound and trying to keep the dog stable.
They rushed the injured animal to VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center, where officials said the dog was in stable condition.
