South Carolina Ballet's Nutcracker is a holiday tradition for many in the Midlands. This December, the Columbia run of William Starrett's Nutcracker has a new enhancement. All evening performances of the ballet will feature a live orchestral accompaniment. As the company celebrates its 65th anniversary season, this addition hopes to bring an elevated classical experience for the audience.

This year, the South Carolina Ballet Orchestra, conducted by Scott Weiss, adds a new artistic dimension to the production. The richness of Tchaikovsky’s Preview score performed live enhances the company’s signature opulence and deepens the emotional resonance of each scene.
